DOUBLE COMBUSTION

Ravelli wood stoves are the technological evolution of traditional open fires yet their efficiency, reliability and comfort levels are very similar to conventional heating systems.

This is made possible via a process known as “secondary combustion”, a technology that has solved the problem of incomplete combustion.

WHAT IS COMPLETE COMBUSTION?

Combustion that takes place in normal fireplaces is often incomplete and therefore causes pollution. Inadequate combustion chambers use up only part of the calorific value in the wood and cause formation of carbon monoxide, an extremelytoxic substance which appears in the formation of waste gases.

DOUBLE COMBUSTION: GREATER THERMAL VIELD AND GREATER RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Ravelli wood stoves exploitthe maximum calorific value of the wood, burning up any carbon monoxide still present in the gases created by the primary combustion process in the secondary combustion process, thus reducing pollutant emissions. In this way, the process achieves CO levels below those set by European standards, as well as increasing efficiency.

TURN COMBUSTION AIR

Ravelli stoves are furthermore fitted with a non-adjustable tertiary air system, introduced via a pipe in the upper section of the combustion chamber. By reducing the primary and secondary air input, combustion moves into the upper section of the chamber: in this way the stove continues to produce heat byburning the gases, but the block of wood is consumed very slowly since it is not subject to the direct effects of the flames.
